Ricky Williams fails drug test, suspenson coming

Updating previous reports, Jason Cole of The Miami Herald confirms running back Ricky Williams faces at least a one-year suspension from the NFL after testing positive for drug use a fourth time under the league's substance abuse policy.

Two sources confirmed a report by WSVN-TV that Williams had failed the test, although neither would say the substance Williams used. On three previous occasions, Williams had tested positive for using marijuana.

Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene declined to comment Sunday night.

''Because of the confidential nature of the league's substance abuse policy, we can't comment on any aspect of that program,'' Greene said.

Why is smoking pot in his spare time such a big deal? I think the NFL needs to look at its drug policy just a bit. Its not like your gonna see him "endorsing" smoking weed or anything. In fact no one would even know if the NFL wouldnt make it public.

i think if they ban smoking weed, then the fellas shouldnt be able to drink either. smoking weed hurts you a lot less than alcohol. and before anybody screams brain cells. please go look up what alcohol does to the brain. haha I do neither, but had to do a lot of research on comparing and contrasting effects of alcohol/THC

I think the big issue is that marijuana is an illegal drug in the united states and the nfl wants to rid itself of problems that deal with marijuana. Not just guys smoking but all of the other issues that go with smoking like dealing. The nfl gets a black eye when a guy like Bam Morris gets busted with 220 lbs of the stuff. If you havent noticed too, the nfl has cracked down big time on people getting in trouble. People that have been arrested off the field have done suspensions even if its not the team's choics to suspend them.

do they really think the use of marijuana is a performance inhancement drug? unless they fill the endzone with reese cups, ricky williams ain't got no advantage over anyone.

plus have you seen the new "drug" commercial, where it shows that kid gettin chased by that dog in the lumber yard? Nice to know my tax dollars are going to warn kids about the harmful effects of weed.

I hate marijuana, and i will hate it unless it ever becomes legal. i hate all illegal drugs because of what they do to people. im not saying what he did is right. I personally just dont see how marijuana is illegal and alcohol isnt. and that is in any law.

Smoking weed is more dangerous than alcohol? HAHA! Compare the deaths related to alcohol, then compare the deaths related with pot. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean its more dangerous than alcohol. Lets be serious here.
